Frequently asked questions about prints, printed goods and image licensing
Can I use your images for free?
In most cases no, unless you have a super altruistic reason that can convince me otherwise assume you’ll need to pay for some sort of licensing even for personal use, also please note that even free usage would require a licensing agreement. Use the contact form for any questions about digital image usage.
what does it cost to buy or licenSe an image and do you have a price list available?
It depends on multiple factors so creating a price list for all licensing eventualities would be too time consuming, but checking out the suggested charges on the NUJ website will give you fairly a good starting point.
The cost to license an image depends on size, whether for print or digital media, where it will be used, what it will be used for and how long you want to use it. If you include all these details when contacting me it will make it a lot faster to provide you with a quote.
If you use an image without permission and get caught, it will cost you a lot more than being honest.
What types of prints do you offer?
I offer prints in variety of sizes with a choice of either C-type (a digital photographic print, much like traditional colour photo prints) or a Giclée print (inkjet). Both have different qualities, and whilst I have my personal preference I have had prints made using both methods to ensure the image looks its best no matter what.
if i don’t like the print, can i return it?
In most cases, prints are created to order and are as such a personalised item and cannot be returned for a refund because you’ve changed your mind. If the print is damaged in any way a full refund or a replacement print will be provided. The only exception to this will be pre-printed items such as cards, ex-exhibition prints or excess stock from an in person event, which will be sold through my etsy shop and clearly marked.
Please note that the colours you see on your home computer, phone or tablet may differ because of the different colour profiles around, therefore what you receive may not match exactly what you see on the screen but is how it’s intended to look.
How long will i have to wait for a print i’ve ordered?
If it is a custom order, it may take a couple of days to get the image prepared and sent to the printer, then it depends on their turn around. At peak periods such as Christmas it could take far longer. Ideally give yourself as much time as possible, if it’s truly urgent then contact me in advance and I can see what I can do.
For pre-printed items they will be shipped within 2 working days.
Where can i buy your prints
For now if you have a custom order, contact me and I can create a private listing on my Etsy shop which is where I will have all my prints available at some point in the not too distance future.
